Bob's 1955 Chevy Bel Air
Introduced in late 1954, the 1955 Chevy arguably changed the history of Chevrolet. The 1955 Chevy represented a completely new vehicle in both styling and engineering, and was the most exciting car to wear the bowtie badge since WWII.
When Bob bought his 1955 Chevy Bel Air in 2003, he had a lofty goal, he wanted a car that paid respect to the original classic design but was modern in comfort, engineering and performance.
A lot of fabrication and restoration went into this "never trust a primered car". The Bel Air was first sent to Metal Rahed in Fort Worth, Texas to be completely stripped of years of previous owner's paint and repairs. Hundreds of hours were spent bring the this ride to where it is today.
The Chevy now sits on a custom full tubular chassis by Art Morrison with 13 inch disk brakes, and 17 inch Boyd Coddington Smoothies Wheels on all four corners.
Bob started the modernization of the power train by replacing the existing power plant and updating it with a 541 horsepower 434ci Safiroff Engine engine backed by a Tremec T-56 six-speed and a 3:70 Strange Axel rear end.
The interior features a full custom leather interior with a custom built console. Bob's ride is kept cool cruising the hot Texas summers with a Vintage Aire A/C blown through billet vents.
Though Bob will tell you his Bel Air is a "work in progress" we fell he has created a respectful re-interpretation of Chevrolet's original historical goals, and a true modern classic in itself, deserving of our first Featured Ride.
